Hi,
I will be living in Cape Town for three months from February through May 2017 with my 8-year-old son. We are moving from the United States. I will be working as an intern (within University of Cape Town) in the Rondebosch neighborhood, and I am trying to find elementary schools for my son near that neighborhood. I'm looking for suggestions for schools in that area, particularly more affordable options - since we will be here for a short period and I am still in school.
Thank you for any help and suggestions!

Rondebosch is a pretty good area and there are loads of good schools are there. Off the top of my head, Rondebosch Boys, SACS, and Bishops are all good schools in the area, but these are local schools and they cover the South African curriculum, which might be a difficult adjustment. On the upside, with fees at around R3,000 to R4,000 a month, they'll definitely be cheaper than international schools, though this is still above the average for most primary school fees.
Groote Schuur Primary School, a somewhat less prestigious school than those listed above, is also in the area with school fees around R1,000 or so per month. I would really recommend the schools I first mentioned above over this kind of option, though, I don't really know much about this school.
There's also an Expat Arrivals page (link here) that goes into some details about the South African school system as a whole.
Let me know if you have any more questions, and best of luck with your internship!
