When you come to Qatar both you and your son will be under your husband's sponsorship. Once you find a job, you will need to get a 'No Objection Letter' from your husband (because he has sponsored you) stating that he allows you to work. You may also have to get a police report from your home country attested by the embassy, as well as any formal documents or diplomas/certificates that you may have. It could be worth getting some of this done before you move here to save time and money. If these documents are required by your potential employer, you will also have to get them translated into Arabic.
Alternatively, your employer in Qatar may chose to sponsor you and take care of all this paperwork. However, many women prefer to stay under their husband's sponsorship as they can change jobs as they wish and not have to worry about whether or not their employer will grant them a No Objection Letter.
Good luck,

I would have a look at the Cost of Living section on Qatar, it is up to date and, although everyone is different, it'll give you a good general idea of how much things cost here. If accommodation is paid for, it would also be good to know if any other benefits may be (car, phone, travel, etc), as 16,500QAR/month seems ok, seeing as how you won't have to pay rent.
Since you will be joining your husband, you will be under his sponsorship (Residence Permit) and so once you find a job, he will also be able to sponsor your work visa. Your potential employer will also be able to sponsor your work visa but generally, wives who are sponsored by their husbands also get their work visa from them.
