I am being offered to work in Qatar with the pack of QAR 13K/Month + travel tickets. I have to take care of accommodation. If I accept, i have to travel with my wife. How Much QAR can be saved assuming I live a middle class life. I am from Chennai, India. Is this ok to accept and travel there? I have another offer to Malaysia with MYR 8.5K/Month + travel tickets. Another offer in India, Chennai with INR 12.5Lakhs/Year. Confused which one to prefer. I have idea about Malaysia and India offer, but need to know about Qatar offer. Can anyone help me to understand quickly please. I have to decide in a day.

Hi, vkumar011081, agree housing cost in Doha could be expensive. Housing, nevertheless, is a discretionary spending, which could be more or less depending on your requirements and preferences. While going to Qatar tax free may seem enticing, you should note that you may be considered a full year tax resident of India for YA2015/16 if you relocate at this time of the year and your income in Qatar (or Malaysia for that matter) could be subject to India income tax without relief for HRA. If you still need help with assessing the financial viability and/or the structure of both packages against your India situation, please let me know as I have lived and worked in multiple countries as a qualified tax advisor with Big 4 and head of mobility for a number of the largest MNC's. Culturally, you will probably feel comfortable in both Qatar and Malaysia as there are sizable populations of Indians. Hope this helps.
