Hi everyone,
I have a job offer from a company based in South Africa (Johannesburg). The salary is R425 000 per year plus a 40% quarterly bonus. I would like to know if this is a good salary in South Africa, and how much it would be per month after taxes. Is this salary will be enough to rent an appartment and live correctly in Johannesburg? Thanks for your help.

It's always best to refer this kind of thing to a tax advisor. If I were you, I'd have a look at the South African Revenue Services (SARS) website. Being an expat paying tax in South Africa can get complicated, which is why it is best to speak to a professional in the field.
In the tax year ending 28 February 2014, SARS will deduct 132 894 ZAR in tax from people earning between 358 111 ZAR and 500 941 ZAR, plus an extra 38% of everything you earn above 500 940 ZAR. Even with this, you should still be able to rent a nice apartment and have a good standard of living.
For more information, have a look at our Cost of Living in South Africa page as well as our Accomodation in Johannesburg page.
Hope this helps,
