The hospitals and medical care in Cape Town is world class. Most expats go to the private hospitals, and you should be able to find more detail in the healthcare section of the cape town guide on expatarrivals.com. Mediclinic and Netcare are the two big private hospital companies. The public hospitals are best avoiced if you can afford to.
Hope that helps.
Tom
As Tom mentioned, have a look at Healthcare in Cape Town. The private hospitals are great and the Groote Schuur public hospital is one of the best in the country, but it doesn't come near the private sector.
Good luck
Xavier
Have a look at our Healthcare in South Africa page for detailed information on this. Generally you will want to avoid public hospitals but private hospitals usually have high standards of care and are almost alwyas exceptionally hygienic. Private GPs are also normally good.
Hope this helps.
Best of luck,
Xavier
