I'm trying to decide which area in Madrid is ideal for me as a young professional who loves a party. I'll be moving from Cape Town, South Africa, where I used to live in the CBD, walk to work and wherever else I needed to go for that matter, and enjoy the hustle ans bustle of a beautiful city that also has a thriving nightlife.
Is it normal to flatshare in Madrid, and how difficult is it to find flatmates. Can anyone suggest some useful sites for this endeavour?

I think you should definitely plan on living centrally. La Latina, Malasaña and the gay area, Chueca, Atocha, the area around Santa Ana square are all good but avoid Sol as it´s full of tourists and pickpockets. It´s normal to share in the centre. There´s lots of young English teachers who do so and enjoy the excitement there. Central Madrid looks a little run-down but life at street level is so lively with so much to do it makes up for it. The main city attractions are nearby so you can enjoy the beautiful and cultural offerings and the nightlife together. I hope this helps and that you have a great time.

I'd try La Latina, Chueca, Malasaña or really anywhere in the center. If you want something right next to the center try Salamanca or Retiro. I live in Retiro and love it! It's definitely common to share a flat-- try idealista.com or easypiso.com.
