Hi Expert , I am a skilled worker from India , and my current employer has filed a Work Permit for me and it is approved to work in Norway . However due to certain limitation , I want to leave the current employer and find out a good job in Norway itself .

Please let me know what are my prospects , also Is work permit Employer Specific or it is general to work in any organisation in Norway. It would be really very great of you , if you can clear my doubt.

Regards,

Hi Rajat

Officially speaking you have to have found a job in Norway before getting a work permit there.

Being transferred by an existing company is arguably the easiest way of getting into the country, so if you really want to move to Norway (which is usually very difficult) it may be worth considering sticking it out with your current employer for a while.

Have a look at our Visas for Norway and Work Permits for Norway pages to get an idea of how the system works, as well as our Working in Norway page which will give you a rough idea of your prospects.

Best of luck with this,

Xavier
