Dear all, I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced the same problem as myself. I married a South African in Oct 2006, we lived in the UK and had 2 children (both British citizens), we moved to SA in May 2012 and my ex husband divorced me in July 2014. I applied for permanent residency in July 2012 but wasn't issued with my permit until January 2014! It wasn't for some time until after I was divorced that I was made aware that my permit had a stamp on it stating 'should the marital relationship break down within 2 years of the issue of the permit then the permit shall become invalid'. I contact Home Affairs as soon as I became aware of this problem but it's like pulling teeth!! Even Home Affairs head office in Pretoria didn't even know what to do. I have managed to contact a lawyer who has written a formal letter to Home Affairs but we are still yet to receive a response. I am at my witts end as I don't know what else I am supposed to do??! Thanks.
