Hi there,

I wonder if anyone can help. My husband has been offered a 2 year relocation to Miami and we are currently going through the visa process. We are due to be flying out in October to look at potential areas to live etc. I've visited the US a number of times, but never Miami and we only have a week to get a feel for the place. I wonder if anyone could recommend any particular areas that would be a good starting point, or at least to narrow down the search to certain areas. I've done research online but wondered if anyone else had any thoughts.  His office is in Brickell. We are both mid to late 30's with no children. We both like busy (currently very short train journey into London). We will have a car, but being able to walk to general amenities would be ideal.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be really very appreciated.

Thank you.

As you have no children and are relatively young, the Brickell area is a good choice to look into.  I personally prefer Coconut Grove.  Although I currently live in Italy, I lived in Miami for over 20 years.  During much of this time, I lived in Coconut Grove and worked in my office on Brickell Ave.

Coral Gables and Five Points (the Roads) are also good areas.  Kendall and Miami Beach are a bit of a commute commute.

Hi, you may already be living in Miami but just in case I will agree that Coconut Grove and Brickell would be your best options. Brickell is full of bars, restaurants, shopping, great views of Biscayne Bay. Coconut Grove is a bit quieter but with all the essential shops you need. Coco Walk (the central shopping square) is currently under renovation but once it is done it will be fabulous!
