Hi,

My family and I are planning to move to Moscow next year. It will be my spouse and two teenage kids. We were wondering what are some of the good and bad aspects of living in the city centre and the garden ring compared to living outside of the city. What sort of accommodation should we look for? How can we find the best options in Moscow? What sort of areas would be suitable for a family with two teenagers?

Thanks!

Good morning,

All the best with the move. Having a family, you will have to consider the needs of your children as well as your own needs and wants. Living in the city centre allows for good public transport links to get to work and around in general. There is also much more of a buzz and city-atmosphere living within the Garden Ring in Moscow.

However, city-centre accommodation tends to be expensive and may be far from the schools you may wish to send your children to. Are you looking for schooling options in Moscow? Have a look at our international schools in Moscow page for some more insights.

Some international schools are just out of the city making these preferred areas amongst expat families. You can find out about accommodation in Moscow here. They are also less busy areas which may be better for families who prefer a quieter lifestyle. Overall, finding accommodation depends on your needs and lifestyle preferences.
