Areas and Apartments in Gauteng?

I Will be working in Jhb CBd and pta CBd as well as in Midrand. My budget Will be like 8000 rand for à furnitured apartment.

Hi Koen, Gauteng is a province in South Africa which consists of the two main cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria, and a number of smaller towns in between. If you're looking for an area/suburb, it would all depend on where you will be working, what your budget and lifestyle are and in which particular city ir town you are planning to relocate to. Hi Koen, as you will be working between the two big cities, as well as Midrand, you should consider staying in Midrand, as it is the perfect halfway point between Johannesburg and Pretoria. Bearing in mind though, that traffic between these two cities and Midrand can be a nightmare. However, the Gautrain, South Africa's first high-speed rail line now travels daily between Pretoria and Johannesburg and stops at Midrand, so this may be a good option for transport if working in these areas. The train travels between Pretoria's CBD and Johannesburg's.

If staying in Pretoria, a good area to consider would be Centurian. It's generally a safe area and is convenient for the Gautrain, as well as having access to the freeways to get to Johannesburg. In Johannesburg, you could consider areas such as Sandton, Rosebank, Bryanston and Rivonia; these areas are conventiently situated near the Gautrain station and have easy access to the main freeways around the city. There are numerous apartment blocks in these suburbs. However, a budget of R8,000 for furnished accommodation may only get you a relatively small apartment.

Hello, I and my husband are moving to SA in March and most probably we would be living in Gauteng. We are going to be helped by an expat dealing agency, and mostly likely be housed in Silver Lakes, Wood hill or one of those kind of golf estates. I have two questions: 1. How safe are these Estates? 2. What kind of accommodation can be expected if we have budget of ZAR 22,000, in these localities? Thanks a ton, would be awaiting your response.
