Hi All,
My husband has had 5 years experience running a department and is educated till the 10th standard in India. What type of job is available to him in Malaysia ?
How can he obtain a work permit for Malaysia ?
I am a graduate and also pursuing a CWA/CMA course.
Is it a good idea for us to travel to Malaysia and find a job ?
My husband is interested in working there for sometime but he wants to go to Malaysia on a visitors visa and search for partime work first. Do they grant visas for part time jobs in Malaysia.
I have no experience of the country so would appreciate your advice.

The process for obtaining a work permit for Malaysia can be a long and tedious process.
It is important to have an employer to act as a sponser in order to be granted the work visa.
I think your husband's managerial experience should help him secure a job. However, nowadays with the oppurtunities afforded by the internet I don't think you should necessarily travel all the way to Malaysia to search for a job.
First, spend some time looking online for opportunities and doing some online applications. If after that you still want to travel to Malaysia, then be sure to have some meetings or interviews with potential employers lined up so you can make the most of your trip.
Have a read of the Expat Arrival's pages on Work Permits for Malaysia and Working in Malaysia to find out more about the job market in Malaysia and how best to secure a work permit.
Good luck.
