Hello! Coming from Jeddah my dear wife (Romanian) and me (German) recently arrived in Al Khobar. Since end of 2009 we are living in KSA. In Jeddah we were lucky to find something that you can call traces of western cultural life. Mainly events organized and supported by various consulates being sited there. Here in Khobar we up to now are missing that highly. Are there any cultural and social events in the eastern provinces? Are there people organizing or knowing about those? We are ready to share our experiences if we can contribute by that to the local community's life or to help others settling down here or thinking of that. Warm regards, Fritz

Fritz, Welcome to the EP. Yes there are many social activities that go on in the Eastern Province. There is a Womens International Group that meet every month, an Awerican Womens Group that meet also monthly. There is the AMerican Business Association (ABA that most companies belong to and you do not have to be an American to join. In Khobar there are only 2 Consulates one is the US Consulate at Dhahran and the other is the British Trrade Office (British). Both do hold functions from time to time. Your Compound I am sure is also holding functions but without knowing the specifics I cannot tell you more. Several Groups hold Balls in Bahrain each year which are very formal and a very pleasant event. Please send me a private email with specifics and I can better answer your questions.
