A decent salary package for an expat in Hong Kong?

A salary of HKD 45,000 is fairly decent and you should be able to live quite comfortably on it and support your family. A two-bedroom apartment will cost around HKD 15,000 and that will be your biggest expense. You will also need to factor in the cost of transport, groceries and childcare (if your wife is also going to be working). Use the Cost of Living in Hong Kong page to help you work our your expenses.

I would also consider the salary in relation to what someone in your field of work should expect to earn in Hong Kong. You didn't give any details of your position but to give you an idea a salary of HKD 45,000 per month is what a mid-level banker would expect to be paid. Hello, I dont agree at all.. 45k is good if your lodging and perhaps school is paid. 15000 will get you a dump frankly. Perhaps something far from town then.. Perhaps you can get a helper and ensure your wife also works, cause otherwise this aint going to be easy living. To give you idea.. Mercer counts around 6000 hkd more than Europe cost of living for expats.. unless you buy chinese produce only.. Would need more details perhaps to understand better..\good luck
