What is life like on compounds in Dhahran? Will I be able to get alcohol?

Hi, I have been offered a position in the King AbulAziz military hospital and I am told I will be living on the compound with other westerners. Can anyone tell me what the compound is like? Is it possible to get alcohol on the compound? Thank you.

Hi Janet

You'll often find that Westerners are able to enjoy a lot more of the comforts they are used to within the compounds, which are relatively rarely visited by the Mutaween.
