Hi team, My name is Bex, been living in Australia for the past 4 years, I have an Australian fiance. We would like to move home in the next 2 years and I live being prepared so I have started researching recently! I getting very confused and overwhelmed about the visa that Tom needs. He is a worker! Qualified carpenter, health and safety officer etc. He wants to work when he gets over there but does not have a job offer which most visas require! What is this stamp 4 visa? I so confused on what we need to do between now and then! Kinda getting worried already! As I am completely savvy about the Australian system which I am going through getting my residency organised. I love greatly appreciate some information on where to start and on what to do. Information on what other did!? Thank you kindly, Bex

Hi Bex

Good luck with this process - I know it can seem a bit overwhelming, but you've given yourself a decent amount of time and, with some effort, hopefully everything will work out just fine.

While you've clearly done some research, have a look at these pages to get more of an idea of what you should expect:

Working in Ireland
Visas for Ireland
Work permits for Ireland

The Stamp 4 is the immigration status granted to expats who have the right to work in the country without a work permit. The Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service gives more info on this, and the Irish government sites are good and clear in general.

Hope this works out for you.

All the best,

Xavier
