Hello all,
I am moving to Seoul, South Korea later in this year as an expat.
I am wondering how much of accommodation budget is needed to live in Seoul usually, as a single expat (age 32 with no family accompanying). I am thinking to live in one of serviced residences/apartments in Seoul with convenience.
Where do most of young expats live in Seoul? If so, what is the range of the budget should I be aware?
Thank you!

Hi S2SESILIA,
The cost of accommodation in Seoul ranges from moderate to exorbitant, but doing research on online property portals or enlisting the help of a real estate agent that specialises in the expat market would certainly help you in finding the best deal. One bedroom apartments in the city centre can cost anything from KRW 600,000 to 1,800,000, while one bedroom apartments outside of the centre will cost between KRW 400,000 and 1,200,000.
When searching for accommodation you should take into consideration where you work, how well serviced an area is by public transport, the amenities nearby, as well as the lifestyle you would like to live. Give Accommodation in Seoul a read for some city specific information, and Accommodation in South Korea for a more extensive report of accommodation options and renting practises in the country.
In terms of neighbourhoods, check out our Areas and Suburbs in Seoul page. It gives information about some of the most popular expat areas in Seoul.
I hope this helps. Good luck in your search.
Regards,
Carla
