Hi my husband and myself are looking to come to Australia for about 6 months, it is something I have wanted to do for many years, can someone tell me if it would be something that could be done, we would let our property in uk and rent in Australia, I am 52 and qualified nurse my husband is a carpenter and plasterer ( I wouldn't be working) he could do odd jobs to pay for every day living. Please can you just be honest is it a possibility or is it impossible! Many Thanks Dawn xxxx

Hi Dawn,

I would suggest taking a look at the Cost of Living in Australia page.

Whether you can afford to live in Oz without working will depend on a number of things such as the rental income from your house in the UK, How much you have in saving, the amount of money your husband will bring in and your general lifestyle.

Furthermore, you didn't say whereabouts in Australia you would be living. Sydney and Melbourne both have very high costs of living.

Hope this helps
