It is easy to meet people and make friends in Stockholm. I've heard the Swedes can be quite private and unfriendly. What's the social scene in Stockholm like? Are there any good clubs and bars in the city? I'm moving to Sweden in a few months and just trying to plan ahead, especially as I'll be moving there on my own and want to get out and about.

Hi Phil,

While Swedes might have a reputation for being unfriendly it shouldn't be too difficult to make friends in Stockholm as long as you are willing to put yourself out there. Join social clubs or a sports team as a way of meeting like-minded people. Moving into a house share would also provide you with an opportunity to make some new friends.

Take a look at some of these interviews on expat experiences in Sweden to get an idea of what to expect and how others in a similar position adjusted to expat life in Stockholm.

Good luck with your move.
