Hi, I'm single and what type of housing should I realistically aim for? 1 room or 2 room? Understand that I should aim for 1 room but problem is: is it easy to get one room flats in Hong Kong? Does the rental covers internet usage, electricity and water usage? what is the median rental for one room flat that I should realistically accept? 16000? or 9500? thanks

You could find a studio, 1 room, or 2 rooms. It's up to your lifestyle, preference, requirements - whether your own furniture can be fit in a room, whether you need sufficient space to store your stuff. Rents vary depending on locations, furnished/unfurnished, interior conditions (renovated or not), building conditions (old or new). There are certain areas where single expats prefer to live. Rents for 1 room/2 rooms in those areas are a bit higher than flats in other areas. Internet service fee & utilities charges are paid by tenants. Let me know if I can assist you further.

If you are single & having a temporary stay in Hong Kong, you might consider staying in serviced apartments/studios. I personally recommend DASH Serviced Suites, which is a fast-growing brand of serviced apartments in Hong Kong featured in Forbes.
