I got offered a job in south korea that's not professional and its not teaching so I was wondering what kind of visa should I obtain that will allow me to work and live in south korea for a couples months or 1 year?

Hi there,

You haven't mentioned what kind of job it is so that makes this a tricky question to answer. You also haven't mentioned your nationality, which also has an impact on visa matters for South Korea.

Have a look at our Visas for South Korea and Work Permits for South Korea page. Often the company arranges work permits for its employees coming to South Korea. So they should have some pretty thorough knowledge on which visa you should get in order for them to be able to do the work permit application.

Best regards

During my tourist stay in korea I'm willing to extend my stay for a long term period by working part time jobs. Which visa I could get?

Hello, We also were offered a job, for my wife and I both to help a business owner express English translated instructions properly. He will pay all of our living expenses plus $1000 per month. We plan to go for 1 year. Will we have to leave the country and come back often during the year? What visa do we need? We are not teachers and do not speak Korean.

Hi there,

South Korea has many visa categories available and this can be confusing. Please see this link for a list of visas which allow the holder to work in South Korea. As long as you obtain the correct visa before entering the country, there should be no need to leave the country and come back for visa purposes. However, it's worth mentioning that it is not possible to change from, for example, a tourist visa to any kind of work visa without leaving South Korea - which is why it's important to enter South Korea on the correct visa (one which allows you to work) from the outset.

Please see the Expat Arrivals Visas for South Korea and Work Permits for South Korea pages for more details. As I mentioned before, most business owners in South Korea bringing people over to work there have done it before, so the person offering you a job may be able to help you with specifics.

Best of luck with your move.
